The brilliance of youth colours the wines of Gevrey a bright ruby which takes on a dark carmine hue with age. The spontaneous aromas of young Gevrey wines are strawberry, blackberry, violet, reseda and rose, while maturity gives them a liquorice bouquet with hints of game and undergrowth. Full-bodied and powerful, rich and full-bodied, with body and spirit, the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation boasts a firm structure and velvety tannins, expressing a very fine grain without harshness. Pleasant young and to drink on its fruit, it is nevertheless and above all a wine for laying down, often for great ageing, excellent for learning the vintages.
